Hi Paolo,

Yes, BA is not going to be presenting at the conference. He cancelled out two days ago. He told me that the reason was that a lot of the members of the WITS group didn't like the idea of him presenting anything outside their own group, and gave him all kinds of trouble about it. I'm going over to present something at their May seminar, so I was really surprised they'd be upset about having him come here in exchange. I'm not a member over there, so I've got no idea what's going on in that group, but maybe some of the WITS guys on here can shed some light...

Anyway, I guess this is the kind of thing that happens with conferences. I'm in the middle of getting an alternate presentation set up, so check that page in a couple days for an update. Worst-case scenario is I'll end up filling in with some stuff that I was saving up for a special occasion, so it actually might work out better in the end because of this....

Earik

 earik,

i've got some prepared materials on some more advanced topics powerpoint and such if you need backup to fill in...but if you have it covered, i'm sure the membership would much prefer to have another presentation from you.

Perhaps Earik you can go to the WITS seminar and tell them something about the joys and benefits to the Universe of sharing as opposed to stopping at almost nothing to further their own self-serving needs and wants?

Hi Gfish - Thanks a lot for the offer to help! As it turns out, there is actually a waiting list to be a speaker for this, and some of the guys have some really cool topics they want to speak on, so I've been in contact with a couple and I think we'll be good to go. If not, I can always step in with a 5th talk, which would be fine too. I really appreciate the offer though!!

Reece - I agree that sharing is an important part of this whole thing. It sounds a bit floofy, but I've found that every single time I give something away, some cool new thing shows up right afterwards. So it comes back in kind. Makes me really excited about presenting at the conference, because I can pretty much guarantee that I'm going to have a good research month in May...

When I first read that Brian was going to be a presenter at the conference I sent Earik a pm to ask if he was aware that Brian does not (and to the best of my knowledge never has) actually trade.  As most of the members here know all too well, there are many techniques that appear very powerful in hindsight but somehow everything changes in real-time when 'actual $$' are on the line.  Unfortunately, there are way too many so called gurus in this industry who posit themselves as knowing some sort of 'grail-like' technique yet don't actually trade it - preferring to make a very nice living selling total BS while avoiding any risk.  Just my 10c worth of course.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at the conference.

regards to all,

sean

Earik, I like the new entry schedule for the PowerUser Conference !
At least he agrees about his intervention being video-recorded... I hope

Thanks,

hmmm... Mr Shrader had better not underestimated the wave59 crowd, as the bar for the 'wow' factor is quite high for this crowd. he'll have to really pull out the big guns. I have nothing but respect for Mr Shrader and his trading prowess but his first trading course that I purchased was rather underwhelming. the essence of it is in ME in a few pages. his next course is even more expensive than the first one ! but I'm ready to admit I might have 'missed' the whole thing in his first course

at least Sean's message prompted an unreal email from Brian within his group. absolutely hilarious

Hi nebuchadnezzar, did you refer to Shrader's "encrypted key to the markets" course ?
Can you elaborate a bit on what aspect of the course was underwhelming ?

Thanks
Paolo

yes thats the course I'm referring to. do you have that course ?

I found it underwhelming pretty much from start to finish.

Shrader is coming!  Shweet!

I was feeling *really* tempted to buy his course...  which I may still get some day...  But now perhaps we may learn the gist of it from his presentation, and I didn't have to lay out that rather serious course fee... bonus!

Anyway, wow, this conference is simply gonna *rock*...

can't wait!

Hi nebuchadnezzar,
no I didn't have his course, I know Brad Stewart from sacredscience.com is a very skilled marketing man so decided to wait some feedback before purchasing. If you read his presentation of the "encripted key" course on the website it seems almost the Holy Grail !

All in all I prefer Mr. Jenkins, not sure about the money he made with trading, but I met him in NYC in 2007, it seemed to me respectable and with a good knowledge of what he wrote on his books. I like in particular his "true trend line" tool, I coded it on Wealth-Lab developer, a software I used before knowing about Wave59 . I attached below a screenshot. It would be great having it coded in W59, I guess should start studing QScript...

Sorry if I insist, but by underwhelming you mean that the concepts and strategies outlined in his course can't be applied in real trading, or they don't give any real hedge? Or both ?

Paolo, i thought the concepts were quite simple. maybe its just me but I was looking for some more advanced techniques - especially given the cost of the course.

concepts are certainly applicable. but i dont think i can trade them - maybe others can
